What is the hiring process?
The hiring process takes just 5 easy steps. If you want to learn more click here.
Do I need to be bilingual?
NOPE! All classes are total immersion. All correspondence between you and parents will be translated for you/them.
What hours are available to teach?
Classes will be offered Monday-Saturday from 9am-10pm CST and Sunday from 2pm-10pm CST.
How/when will I get paid?
After you are hired, you will send your bank information to Step Up. Twice monthly, your payment will be deposited to your bank in USD.
How much prep time is involved before each class?
You will be able to view your class material as soon as a class is booked. Each class begins with a list of class objectives to show what you should cover during your time with your student. How you teach those objectives is up to you - use your experience and teaching style to help your student learn. You may need to gather props and think about extension questions in advance. The more you teach a certain class, the less prep time you will need. Please watch our provided videos for ideas on how to prepare for class.
How do I ask for time off?
You don’t! Just don’t open any classes for the time you need off and no one can book you. Easy Peasy. You have the option to mark the time that you will be gone if you would like, but it is not required.
What is the commitment like?
You will be asked to sign a 6 month contract when you are hired. During this time, you can work as much or as little as you’d like.
Where is Step Up based?
We are a US owned and operated company. We are based in Oklahoma (CST) with teachers all over the US.
How much and when will I get paid?
You will earn $10 for each class that you complete. A completed class consists of teaching for 25-30 minutes and completing appropriate feedback/communication with your student’s parents. Twice monthly, your payment will be deposited to your bank in USD. As an independent contractor, you will receive a 1099 at the end of the year and be responsible for your own taxes.
How many students will be in my class at once?
Our classes will be one-on-one to allow for individualized instruction. This helps the teacher to notice and quickly correct grammar and pronunciation errors in each class and to interact the entire class time with their student.
